OUR UNIVERSE

Early Years: creativity, curiosity and international outlook from the very start

Welcome to the Early Years world at El Centro Inglés — an international educational environment designed for children aged 2 to 5, where creativity, imagination, and curiosity shine every day.

As an international school offering a British Curriculum, Early Years is a key stage in which we lay the foundations for learning, emotional wellbeing, and personal development, guiding pupils through their first steps within a global educational community.

British immersion and natural language learning

Our pupils, organised in learning pools, experience full immersion in English, which naturally becomes the vehicle of learning in a way that is respectful and adapted to their individual pace.

In addition to English, pupils are introduced from an early age to other foreign languages such as French, German, and Chinese, fostering cultural openness, cognitive flexibility, and a love of languages within an international environment.

Learning through enquiry, growing through curiosity

Early Years is a journey of discovery, where pupils learn by investigating, exploring, and developing their innate curiosity. Every experience is carefully designed to stimulate thinking, creativity, and a desire to learn, always with a strong focus on the child’s emotional wellbeing.

Personal and emotional wellbeing is at the core of this stage, shaping emotions, relationships, and social development, and creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment.

Physical and emotional development: we are all superheroes

In the Rainbow area, pupils develop psychomotor skills, coordination, confidence, and resilience. Each child is encouraged to discover their abilities, feeling like a true superhero both inside and outside the classroom.

Music and expression

Music is an essential part of this wonderful world within our Royal Hall — a space where pupils feel, connect, and express themselves through sound, rhythm, and movement, fostering artistic sensitivity from an early age.

Every space, an opportunity to learn

At El Centro Inglés Early Years, we believe that every space is a learning opportunity. Classrooms, shared areas, and creative environments become settings where pupils learn through play, exploration, and shared experiences.

METHODOLOGY

Seeds for Life: a lifelong love of learning begins in Early Years

A lifelong love of learning begins in the early years. At El Centro Inglés, as an international school with a British Early Years setting, this commitment is brought to life through the Seeds for Life project, where our youngest pupils begin their educational journey in an international, stimulating environment with English as the language of learning.

Our British curriculum is supported by an active and participatory methodology, offering a holistic approach to learning and promoting meaningful experiences through cross-curricular projects. All of this is developed within a pedagogical framework aligned with our educational purpose, our MVV (Mission, Vision and Values), and our School Educational Project.

Individualised learning and personalised monitoring

The cornerstones of the Early Years stage at El Centro Inglés are careful individual monitoring and personalised attention for every pupil.

Each child has:

  • An individual portfolio, documenting their progress, achievements, and learning journey
  • Personalised objectives for each area, adapted to their needs, interests, and pace of development

This approach ensures a truly individualised teaching and learning process, which is essential for high-quality early education within an international context.

Close support and educational excellence

We consider the adult–pupil ratio to be essential, which is why we have a classroom assistant programme supporting pupils in their daily routine, providing security, emotional support, and continuous care.

In addition, pupils benefit from enriched learning through specialist teachers in:

  • Music
  • Art
  • Psychomotor development

These areas are delivered in dedicated, purpose-built facilities, promoting creative, physical, and emotional development from an early age.

Linguistic and cultural openness from Early Years

As an international school, we complement English with exposure to other languages and cultures. Early Years pupils are introduced to:

  • Spanish
  • French
  • German
  • Chinese culture

This multilingual approach fosters curiosity, cultural openness, and an international mindset, laying the foundations for global learning in the future.
