OUR UNIVERSE
International education to shape global citizens
At El Centro Inglés, we educate global citizens who are committed to their social and environmental surroundings, prepared to live and lead in an interconnected world. Through an excellent international education, our pupils develop an active and responsible awareness, supported by student-led committees where they exercise leadership, initiative, and social commitment.
Throughout all educational stages, international values are reinforced through charity campaigns, partnerships with other schools, volunteering projects, and sustainability initiatives. Education in healthy habits is also a fundamental pillar: the school dining hall becomes a learning space where values of wellbeing and balanced nutrition, introduced from Early Years, are strengthened.
At Senior School level, pupils further develop their environmental commitment through real initiatives, such as sponsoring a beach, actively participating in cleaning programmes, recycling, and ecological awareness activities aligned with our sustainable education approach.
Leadership, wellbeing, and a culture of care
Student committees, a cornerstone of our participatory culture, promote peer support and emotional wellbeing. Under the motto “No more”, pupils actively engage in preventing any form of exclusion or bullying, fostering a safe and respectful environment.
The school also recognises and positively reinforces the efforts and both academic and personal achievements of all pupils. In addition, the Peer Mentoring programme ensures the integration, guidance, and wellbeing of new students, supporting a positive transition into school life within an international setting.
Critical thinking, debate, and international outlook
Critical thinking, public speaking, and constructive argumentation are key competencies at El Centro Inglés. Our pupils actively engage in academic debate and reflection on global issues, which has led us to become organisers of the regional session of the Model European Parliament (MEP) in Andalucía, the Canary Islands, Ceuta, and Melilla — a highly prestigious experience that strengthens their development as European and global citizens.
Academic excellence and international recognition
Outstanding results in external and international examinations reflect the strength of our educational model and its alignment with the highest academic standards. These achievements motivate pupils to excel, reach their full potential, and successfully face future academic and personal challenges.
As the only CIS International School in the area, El Centro Inglés holds prestigious international accreditations and strong recognition in educational rankings, endorsing our commitment to educational quality, global outlook, and the holistic development of pupils prepared for the world.
METHODOLOGY
Active methodologies in a leading international school
At El Centro Inglés, as an international school and the only CIS Accredited School, we start from the premise that there is no single outstanding educational methodology, but rather a combination of diverse and complementary approaches. The choice of the most appropriate methodology always depends on the learning objectives, pedagogical focus, and educational stage. This strategic approach enables pupils to gain a global perspective on learning and to develop personal tools to solve academic, personal, and social challenges.
Our international educational model, aligned with the quality standards of the Council of International Schools (CIS), ensures a coherent, rigorous education adapted to a globalised world, preparing pupils to succeed in both national and international contexts.
Methodology in Senior School (Secondary)
In the upper stages of Senior School (Secondary), this practical, integrative, and flexible methodological approach is consolidated, adapting to pupils’ cognitive development, maturity, and interests. Activities, projects, and learning experiences are designed holistically and structured by year groups and age, supporting each pupil’s academic, personal, and social development.
As a CIS-accredited international school, El Centro Inglés promotes a model of learning that goes beyond the curriculum, fostering independence, critical thinking, and preparation for external and international examinations within an environment of educational excellence.
Neuroeducation, constructivism, and metacognition
The methodological foundation of El Centro Inglés is inspired by neuroeducation, constructivist theories, and the development of thinking skills, promoting metacognitive processes that help pupils understand how they learn, improve their performance, and take an active and responsible role in their education.
Among the active methodologies we apply across all stages are:
- Collaborative learning, fostering cooperation, shared responsibility, and peer-to-peer learning
- Thinking routines, to structure ideas, analyse information, and develop deep reflection
- Project-Based Learning (PBL), linked to real challenges and meaningful contexts
- Socratic dialogue, encouraging critical thinking and reasoned argumentation
- Service learning, integrating academic learning with social commitment
- Academic debates, strengthening oral expression, active listening, and the ability to defend ideas with sound reasoning
