ACORDE
Music at El Centro Inglés
Music is a fundamental part of the educational project at El Centro Inglés and is one of the aspects most highly valued by our families and school community.
School Orchestra from Year 3
From Year 3 onwards, all pupils take part in the School Orchestra, where they learn to play a string instrument — violin, viola, or cello — and experience music as a means of expression, discipline, concentration, and teamwork.
This musical learning can be further developed through the El Centro Inglés School of Music and Dance, offered as an extracurricular activity, where students continue to refine their instrumental, vocal, or movement skills.
Inclusive Choir for Year 6 and Year 7
All pupils in Year 6 and Year 7 are members of the El Centro Inglés Choir, an inclusive choir open to all voices, designed to nurture talent and enhance vocal expression, artistic sensitivity, and collective work.
This choral project strengthens group cohesion, self-esteem, active listening, and pupils’ sense of belonging.
A‑Corde Project: music as a sensory and emotional experience
Through the A‑Corde programme, our pupils experience music as a powerful tool for sensory and intellectual enrichment. They receive stimuli full of life, colour, and emotion, fostering communication, emotional regulation, and personal expression.
Our approach to music inspires, moves, calms, and energises, developing physical, creative, expressive, and cognitive skills — including memory, attention, and abstract thinking.
