The Importance of a Smooth School Transition from Day One

At El Centro Inglés, a leading international and multilingual school in the Bay of Cádiz, we believe that a positive transition is the first step towards a happy, secure and successful educational experience.

Starting at a new school is a great adventure. New surroundings, new classmates, new teachers and many exciting experiences waiting to be discovered. That is why we place special emphasis on ensuring that every student feels welcomed, supported and part of our community from the very first moment.

Early Years Open Day: Discovering Their New Home

Our Early Years Open Day is designed specifically for children joining the school for the first time.

In a calm, welcoming and age-appropriate environment, pupils have the opportunity to:

  • Meet their new classmates.
  • Become familiar with their learning spaces.
  • Discover daily routines.
  • Get to know their teachers.
  • Build confidence before the official start of term.

This first encounter allows our youngest learners to begin their school journey with excitement, confidence and a sense of security, all of which are essential for a successful transition.

Most importantly, families are fully involved in this special day. As an International Family School, we understand that starting a new school is an emotional milestone not only for children but also for their parents. From the very first meeting, we aim to create a sense of trust, connection and belonging for the whole family.

Peer Mentors and Cooperative Tutors: Students Supporting Students

The welcome at ECI does not end in Early Years.

In the afternoon, new students joining other stages of the school take part in special sessions where they meet the people who will support them during their first days at ECI: their Peer Mentors and Cooperative Tutors.

This peer-support programme is one of the hallmarks of our educational approach and has a very clear objective: ensuring that no student feels alone during their transition to a new school.

Peer Mentors and Cooperative Tutors help new students to:

  • Learn how the school works.
  • Resolve everyday questions.
  • Integrate into school life.
  • Build new friendships.
  • Take part in activities and projects.
  • Feel part of the ECI community from the very beginning.

During the first few weeks, they become a trusted point of reference and, in many cases, these relationships grow into lasting friendships that continue throughout the school year and beyond.

Much More Than an International School

At El Centro Inglés, we know that integration is about much more than simply arriving at a new school.

It means feeling supported.

It means having people around you who help you take each step with confidence.

It means discovering that you are part of a community that knows you, cares for you and encourages you to become the very best version of yourself.

That is why student wellbeing and a strong sense of belonging are fundamental pillars of our international educational project.

Welcome to the ECI Family

As the only CIS Accredited School in the Bay of Cádiz and a school with a strong international outlook, we are committed to providing every student with an environment where they can grow academically, personally and socially.

Because at ECI, we do more than educate.

We build connections, nurture confidence and ensure that every student feels at home from day one.
